Mickey and Tony Shanks started photographing weddings together in 2006. The love they have for each other motivates their desire to witness and document the pure joy they see as a couple starts their new life together.
Their approach to wedding photography artistically tells the story of the day. It features the couple, their wedding party, family, guests and the many details that make the wedding unique. After the wedding, Mickey and Tony get to work and creatively make beautiful, bound art books for each couple that tells their unique story. Mickey and Tony ultimately provide an amazing assortment of visual memories put together in a format that truly represent the beginning of a love story that will be treasured for generations.
Photographing a wedding is much more than taking pretty pictures. Its understanding how to tell a story and understanding what events are important as well as who is important to the bride and groom. Tony and Mickey connect with people on an emotional level and their clients enjoy the resulting memories made in great photos. More than 30 years ago Tony and Mickey committed their love for each other but only have a few negatives to remind them of that wonderful day. This is why they totally believe in preserving the whole story, not just a few snapshots. Love is in the air on a couple’s wedding day and Tony and Mickey truly want to give their clients a tangible reminder of their incredible day which will last for generations.
Like many photographers our style is relaxed and more photojournalistic than traditional but what does that really mean to you?
Well, it means we intuitively capture moments based on our experience. We connect with you and your bridal party on a personal level in a relaxed manner, never ever adding stress to your day. We direct you into situations that allow us to capture natural expressions in a pleasant looking pose. We anticipate the events in your day and record them in such a way as to create for you a visual story displayed in a beautiful art book.
You may be considering the option of hiring a friend or relative who owns a digital camera for much less then we charge.
Let us tell you the work we do on the day of your wedding is only part of the picture. We take the time to research your venue if we haven’t been there before and plan what equipment we might need to bring to provide you with the best pictures. We also look at and preplan creative ways to photograph you and your bridal party. After the wedding we design your album before you even see your pictures. We have the experience and design skills to create a story you’ll treasure for a lifetime. This process takes days not just hours of work. We cannot sacrifice the quality of our work, just to compete with your friends.
If you are looking at us just because you saw another photographers work and just loved it but can’t afford them, well then our suggestion would be to try everything in your power to see if you can cut something else from your wedding budget in order to get THEM. Your dress will be put in a box. Your flowers will die. Your cake and food will be eaten. Your guests will go home. Your memories will fade. Your wedding day will fly by and all you’ll have left to help you remember this day, your day, are the photographs. Don’t choose just any photographer you can afford, get who you want..You won’t be fully satisfied with anything less.
When you commission Shanks Photography to photograph your wedding, you get a team of two photographers documenting your Love Story.
Our coverage is available in four variations; small, medium, large and extra large. We’ve structured our coverage plans in accordance with the approximate size of your planned wedding.
Our smallest plan starts at $2,650 and is aimed at weddings that plan for approximately 25 to 50 guests and have about 4 in the wedding party. The medium is intended for 50 to 100 guests and 6 to 10 in the wedding party, the large is intended for 100 to 175 guests and 8 to 12 in the wedding party. The extra large plan is meant for unlimited coverage with more than 100 guests and 8 or more in the bridal party.
Each coverage variation includes:
• 2 experienced photographers
• A beautiful Fine Art Italian Storybook Album
• A proofbook of all your images
• A CD of computer resolution images

Shanks did an absolutly wonderful job on both our engagement photos and wedding photos. For our engagement photos we had to cancel our first appointment because of a family emergency, but Mickey was more then accomodating! and on the wedding day they were absolutly fabulous and they worked extra hard to get pictures of everyone and everything! I couldnt give them a higher reccomendation!

I would recommend Mickey to any bride to be! I loved working with her and she made my special day one that I will never forget. Every moment was captured in an unique way. When I received my wedding album, I was just amazed with the talent that she has capturing so many wedding pictures and making a beautiful album. My album is truely a story-book album, I love everything she did for our wedding!!!!

Shanks photography went beyond expectations! I share my photos with all my house guests and friends. I am very proud of them. The photos are worth every cent. They truly capture the essence of my wedding as well as the love my husband and I share.
Shanks were easy to work with, friendly and always professional. They were willing to work with us. The photos are of highest quality, and the work that went into them, not only impressed me, but my guests as well. Shanks take great pride in their work and it shows. I can never seem to thank them enough for the outstanding job they did. There wasn’t a shot that I did not love.

Shanks Photography is the top photographer of Middle Georgia! I couldn't imagine anyone else doing the photography for my wedding. Mickey and Tony (husband and wife) are the perfect team. We were very comfortable with them and their professionalism and personalities made the experience what I had always dreamed of. The quality of work can not be beat! I have continued with them through my pregnancy and even all of the newborn, 1,3,6... month pictures of our little boy! I guarentee you will be very satisfied with these two doing any kind of photography for you and your family!!!!!

I enjoyed working with this couple. They are different. I had several picture moments with them from the engagement pictures, to my bridal session, to our wedding and then photos were taken of my daughter. I love the work Mickey puts out. Very unique.

We do suggest that you see each other before your wedding but we do not demand it. We have found that couples who allow us to set up a special time for them to see each other for the first time really enjoy the experience and are glad they did. We capture your initial reaction to each other in a setting that is free from stress and private. After we capture your initial reaction, we get pictures of the two of you together in a more relaxed state when there are less demands for your time from other people at your wedding. After the ceremony, your time is limited and you feel the pressure to attend to your guests, and that is understandable and natural. Here is a link to a similar question on theKnot. Once we've notified you that your date is available, simply use the make a payment link, and pay our retainer fee of $500. Once we receive payment we'll contact you to draw up a contract with your specific wedding coverage details and send it to you to be signed. Once we recieve it back either by mail or drop off your date will be secure.
Your pictures are located by clicking the Clients link on the menu to the right. After clicking, a new window will open to reveal a gallery list of clients. Select your gallery picture and enter the password provided by the studio.
Yes, once you've added images to your favorites, log-in to save or retrieve them. If you have not logged in before you have an opportunity to create an account which just stores your email and passord so we can tell who's favorites to display.
Yes, save it in the same way you save your favorites as mentioned above.
Click the Clients link on the menu to the right. A new window will open displaying the available client galleries.
Click on one of the galleries. (probably should stick to the people you know, you'll need the password for the next step)
Use the password provided by the photographer or client.

Yes, we accept checks mailed to us however there will be a delay in your order as we will wait until the check clears the bank before we process your order.
